The Components Of Oil Painting Reproductions

By Stella Gay

Paintings and simple drawings either on walls, rocks, backside of trees and the ground was among the ways of passing across a message during the ancient times. Modern writing had not been introduced by then but conveniently passed the message intended. It is therefore evident that the art of painting have existed for many years. Today it has been perfected with masterpiece art work resulting from it leading to oil painting reproductions painters.

The painters have a lot to consider while carrying out their work. It is definitely difficult to come up with an exact paint work as the original but similarity between it and the reproduction bridges the gap. The duplicate should therefore include every single element portrayed in the original be it the color, brush pattern or even the type of brush used.

The techniques used to come up with the original should also be the one used to make a duplicate of its own. Mechanical or any electronic device used is out of context in this procedure. One may consider making a photocopy and repainting it while making a duplicate but this is greatly discouraged as it does not promote art.

Simple components such as paint should not be altered. If for example an original was painted with high premium grade British oil paints, the duplicate should be painted using the same. This helps in preservation of authenticity as well as bringing up a sense of originality.

Oil paintings are done on premium grade commercial canvas. A painter on the side making the reproduction may want to cut the cost and instead opt to use a plain cloth in place of the canvas. The quality of the two can never be compared as premium grade canvas is professionally manufactured by experts who know the history of painting as well as want to maintain quality.

Oil coat reproductions products should also be made of same size as the first one. Size matters as it tells that every inch of a drawing is of the same dimension as that on the original. It also helps in creation of a sense of originality as a big or smaller size automatically gives a conclusion that it is fake despite it being a reproduction product.

Making a duplicate does not mean that the painter has the go ahead for selling it or displaying it at art galleries yet. The art work has to go through a number of approvals. Photographs of the same are sent to the original creators for multiple strict quality control inspections. If it passes this stage, the painter is given a go ahead to display the art work or even put it up for sale.

Again the price of oil art painting reproductions varies a bit from those on original works. Pricing is crucial as duplicates should never at any point be sold at prices higher than the original since it is already someone else job redone. A painter has to publicly publish their prices on their respective communication channels.
