Guide To Cleaning Your Faux Sheepskin Rug

By Joyce Howard

Using sheepskin that is fake has gained popularity. There are lots of houses having these rugs. The good thing with this kind of rug is the fact that it can be used on beds, as runners, and on chairs. It is very hard for any person to resist the fluffy product. Nevertheless, in so far as the faux sheepskin rug is perfect, it is very tough to clean. When it does not get the right maintenance, it becomes dingy and begins tufting.

The only thing you can do to have a mat that will serve you for long without it getting ugly is to ensure that you clean it. This rug should be well maintained and often cleaned with the right cleaning materials. If you do not know of the best materials to use to clean the mat, then you will end up destroying the beautiful mat.

Depending on the place on which you place the mat, there are different procedures in which you can use to clean it. The first thing to do is to take off the mat and shake it. If you use the mat on the floor, you will have better do the shaking outside. This will help keep all your furniture from getting dirty. If you find out that the mat has many particles, you should consider beating it to help remove the articles easily.

After all the particles have all been removed the next step is washing the product. The washing should be done by use of cold water, and not make the mistake of using any strong detergents or bleaches. For most of these faux rugs, it is recommended that you use very mild products since the chemicals will react with it and destroy it ultimately.

In case you want to use a machine in cleaning, make sure you read the tag well before immersing it inside the washer. The tag should help because it usually has vivid guidelines on managing the mat. To reduce the chances of wearing the rug, it should be turned inside out. Afterward, have the product gently placed on the machine as the other products. Later on turn the machine on and set the correct settings for this particular product.

After the washing is over and one with, place the rug on a drying rack and let it stay there for almost a week. This is because the rug takes a while to dry completely. After it has been washed, it appears as matted wool spires. This should not be a cause for alarm as after drying the rug will regain its original fluffy nature.

If the runner is not dry at the end of the week, do not be in a hurry but let it dry on its own. After it has dried out completely, start brushing it. The brushing should be done is short strokes. A wire brush is best suited to perform this task well. The dog brush, on the other hand, is responsible for restoring the fluffy nature and breaking up the mat. With this procedure, there will be less shedding of the mat.

With all that done, you will be able to get the results which are pleasing. Many consider this as tiresome, but the results are worth the time.
