Getting A Job As A Dallas Santa For Hire

By Arthur Davis

As the holidays approach each year, you might look for ways to earn extra money. Rather than take a job working at a fast food restaurant or in a retail store, you might want to take a gig that is more relaxed and fun. You also may want something that lets you use your imagination and creativity. Many organizations each year look for people to put on a big red and white suit and assure children that their Christmas wishes will come true. You could earn extra money by working as a Dallas Santa for hire.

You probably already know you will encounter countless children during your stint in this gig. Each child who comes up to you will expect you to act, speak, and look like the real thing. You will be expected to get into and stay in character throughout the entirety of your shift. This staying in character can be challenging, however, when you encounter circumstances that would test the patience of most people.

For instance, it is nothing new for children especially babies and toddlers to cry at seeing someone they do not know. When a child is placed on your lap, you may prepare yourself for he or she to scream, cry, and throw a tantrum. During the whole thing, you must stay in character without showing your real emotions.

Alternatively, you might get some kids who ask for the most heartbreaking of things that you would not expect from a child. For instance, it has been known that some kids will ask for a dead pet to be brought back to life or a parent who abandoned the family to come back and love his or her children again. These stories might compel you to show emotions that should be hidden.

Another requirement involves passing a background check. Chances are that the organization that hires you will not simply trust you to be a safe individual. By law, the people responsible for hiring you may be required to put you through a quick but thorough background check to look for violent crimes.

Disclosing details of any record you have. Misdemeanors like traffic offenses are generally overlooked and not deemed to be too serious. However, a crime like assault or armed robbery could prevent you from being hired at all. These offenses are considered to be violent and not something that organizations are willing to incur risks for when hiring.

Finally, the company that employs you may expect you to have good hygiene. You might be asked to brush your teeth thoroughly before coming to work. You also will be required to wear deodorant and wash your face. Children are not accustomed to thinking of the jolly old elf as dirty or unkempt.

These are some of the examples of criteria you can predictably encounter when you apply to be a Santa. They ensure you are a safe individual to be around and that you also will look and play the part. When you believe they will be no problem to fulfill, you might want to put your application in to start earning extra money for the holidays.
